Preventing Accidents

Look around you! Look for pedestrians, animals and other vehicles.

The driver and passenger in the front seat must wear seat belts. The driver can get a ticket if he/she is not wearing a seat belt.

Children under 4 years old must be in a car seat in the back seat.

Drive more slowly and carefully in bad weather.

Keep your car in good repair to avoid a breakdown on the road.

Keep with you:

  • your driver´s license
  • a current insurance card
  • a charged cell phone

Alcohol and drugs make your mind very slow! You cannot drive and be safe. The law is very strict. Many drunk drivers have accidents. Drinking alcohol and driving are very dangerous. If a police officer catches you, you can lose your license.

Do not drink and drive. Call a taxi, or call a friend.

Save your life and the lives of other people around you.

When Accidents Happen

    CALL 911

Where exactly are you? Are there any injuries? Do you need a translator?

Move your car away from traffic.
You don´t want another accident.

Exchange this information with the other driver:

  • driver´s license number
  • insurance information such as name, address, and policy number
  • car license plate number
